At Safe Firearms Training LLC., we specialize in teaching law abiding citizens the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude to handle firearms safely, responsibly, and effectively. We offer group and private instruction in the heart of the Adirondack mountains. Current courses include: NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, and a New York State compliant version of NRA CCW to comply with NY State concealed carry application requirements. Range locations in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake, NY.

Courses Offered
Learn the fundamentals of modern pistol shooting technique, safe pistol handling, and how to choose the right pistol for you and your intended use. 8 hour course with 1-2 hours of range time. Currently offered in Tupper Lake or Lake Placid.
This course is designed to satisfy the NY State training requirements for obtaining a concealed carry permit. Per NYS mandate, the course is 16 hours of classroom and at least 2 hours of range time. Class size is limited to 8. We will shoot a variety of pistols in different sizes, and with different operational functions and safety devices to determine which features are most important to you and your intended mission. Handguns and lead safe ammo included with course fee.
Private Instruction
Private instruction is available for individuals or small groups. We can reinforce fundamentals, or progress to more advanced concepts such as shooting one handed, shooting on the move, utilizing cover and concealment, multiple target engagement, speed drills and so forth. Advanced drills and concepts require a solid foundation in safe gun handling.

Additional CCW Info.
Classes will typically run from 8am-5pm both days. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled and situated. There will be a microwave and refrigerator available for use. Please bring your own lunch, snacks, drinks. I suggest you dress in layers, both for comfort, and to facilitate practice of concealed carry. A stiff, sturdy belt is necessary, one specifically designed to hold a gun will work even better. You must have basic eye and ear protection. Electronic ear muffs work best for communicating on the range, but foam ear plugs are also acceptable. A baseball style hat will help protect from flying brass.
You will have ample opportunity to handle, holster, and practice concealing a variety of handguns in a controlled classroom environment. For this reason, no live ammunition will be allowed in the classroom! Violation of this rule will be reason for removal from the course.
All guns and ammunition will be provided by the instructor, and included with the course fee. We will shoot a variety of pistols to solidify what works for you and your intended mission.
